Kairos started her operation in a rented three-storey detached house in No. 8, Jalan SS1/22A, Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya on January 2000. It started through the vision of her founders, Reverend Rudy Liu and Pastor Ruby Loh who were Elders and Pastors with an international church. The Centre is also a "partner" with Selangor Council for Welfare and Community Development (Majlis Kebajikan dan Pembangunan Masyarakat Selangor).
Reverend Rudy Liu serves as the Chaplain of the Centre. He obtained his Diploma in Theology (Dip. Th.) from the Bible College of Malaysia and a Master in Christian Studies (M.C.S.) From the Malaysian Bible Seminary. He has recently graduated with a Diploma in Learning Disorder Management and Child Psychology from the Linguistic Council, Singapore and received his diploma from the London College of Teachers, UK. Reverend Rudy Liu is currently pursuing his Master's in Counselling from Help University College.
Pastor Ruby Loh is the principal of the Centre. She graduated from the Bible College of Malaysia with a Bachelor Of Religious Education (B.Re.) and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Montessori, U.K.). She is now pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Special Education with the Linguistic Council in collaboration with Open University Malaysia. Both the founders have been actively involved in serving and leading in children and youth work such as Children's Church, Sunday School, Youth Fellowship, the Boy's Brigade, the Girl's Brigade, and the Royal Rangers prior to their full time ministry with various churches in Malaysia.
The Curriculum
Sumber Kairos uses a homeschool curriculum known as the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E). This curriculum is adapted to the needs of individuals, bearing in mind of the various disabilities they are facing. This also allows the child to work in an almost stress-free environment that encourages students to work without getting frustrated.
What is A.C.E.?
On the surface, most schools look alike—buildings, personnel, curriculum, and budgets. The A.C.E. program is different. For over 40 years, it has been the trendsetter in Biblical educational reform. Its philosophy is built on basic principles of the Word of God. Students are taught to see life from God’s point of view, to take responsibility for their own learning, and to walk in Godly wisdom and character. Accelerated Christian Education® is not just a publisher but a comprehensive Bible-based program that serves both the campus-based school and the homeschool
Kairos Resources is a Learning Centre catering primarily to the academic needs of high functioning learning disabled children and youth and also those who are exceptionally advanced in learning. They might find it difficult to fit into the mainstream educational system, which would classify them as being learning disabled. In order to provide effective learning, the Centre has successfully adapted to the use of an American Christian Home-School curriculum whereby the students learn to be independent and work at their individual pace. Besides academic training, moral values are inculcated through the curriculum and an effective mentoring program. In order to enhance the independence of the students, Kairos embarked on supplementary living skills training such as cooking, laundry, housekeeping, etc.
